journals PUBLIC

Intermittently I make then leave blank journals in public spaces for people to stumble across and take if they so please. I started leaving journals on bicycles while living in New York, although this wasn't the first time I had left things in public space. Previously I have left texts written on cards and vegetables for an unsuspecting passer-by. I like the ambiguity of such gestures and consider them to be something of a 'public gift'. Although I photograph the books where they are left I never stick around in an attempt to watch anyone interact with them. I'd rather have everything after I leave remain unknown.
